The PocketTens (type HV-F013-E) is a portable TENS device: an electrical pulse generator that delivers small pulses to the skin via electrodes to combat nerve, muscle or joint pain. The device is available without a prescription and is intended for pain in the shoulders, arms, lower back and legs.
You choose from three preset programmes for arm/shoulder, lower back and leg/foot, two massage modes (kneading and steady) and ten intensity levels. According to Omron, you can get your pain under control in fifteen minutes. The device can be used up to three times a day, with sessions of up to thirty minutes.
The electrical pulses cause the muscles to contract and relax, which improves blood circulation. They also stimulate the production of endorphins, the body's natural painkillers. This way, pain relief works without medication and without any invasive procedure.
The PocketTens is a medical device with CE marking under the Medical Device Regulation 2017/745. The housing is made of ABS in white and measures 179 x 92 x 65 mm. The included pair of Long Life pads can be used up to 150 times.

How long and how often can I use the device?
A TENS device can be used up to three times a day, with sessions of up to thirty minutes. Omron states that you can get your pain under control in fifteen minutes.
How do I apply the pads?
Place the pads 2.5 cm apart on dry, clean skin. Then switch the device on and press the Set/Start button to choose your programme, and finally select the intensity level.
How often can I use the included pads?
The self-adhesive Long Life pads can be used up to 150 times. One pair is included in the box, along with a holder to store the pads in.
Do I need batteries or an app?
Two AAA batteries (LR03) are included, so you can start right away. No app is needed: the device is operated entirely with the buttons on the main unit and does not connect to the internet.
