How do you choose the right outdoor gear?
First decide which activities you need the gear for. UV lamps are handy for detecting fluids or minerals, torches for general lighting. Pay attention to battery life, brightness and weather resistance. Compact sizes are practical on the go. To be fully prepared for the outdoors, have a look at our backpacks collection too. For professional mountaineering or extreme expeditions, specialist outdoor shops are a better fit.
Frequently asked questions
What do you use a UV torch for?
UV lamps can detect leaks in air conditioning, make minerals glow and check for counterfeit banknotes. They're also handy for forensic work or finding pet stains.
How long do the batteries last?
That depends on the battery type, the brightness and how you use it. AAA batteries usually last a few hours with continuous use, longer with occasional use.
Are these lamps waterproof?
Always check the IP rating. Not all models are fully waterproof. For damp conditions, choose a model with at least an IPX4 rating.
