Paint and bake - these edding porcelain pens have a flexible brush tip and are intended for porcelain, glazed ceramics and oven-safe glass. After 25 minutes in the oven at 160°C, the ink bonds permanently and is dishwasher-safe up to 50°C.
About this product longer description
The edding 4200 porcelain pens are made for labelling, decorating and painting porcelain, glazed ceramics and oven-safe glass. The flexible brush tip produces lines from 1 to 4 mm, so you can use the same pen for a thin letter or a wide area.
The pigment ink is water-based, odourless, fast-drying and light-resistant. As long as the work hasn't been in the oven yet, you can correct text or a drawing without any hassle. Only after curing does the ink bond permanently and become waterproof.
Method: first clean the surface thoroughly, for example in the dishwasher and with methylated spirits, making sure no fingerprints or grease marks are left. Then let the painted design dry for 15 minutes, cure it for 25 minutes in a preheated oven at 160°C and let the work cool down in the oven.
The tip distributes the ink evenly without you having to squeeze, and the pencil shape prevents dripping. This makes the pen suitable for beginners as well as for those with more painting experience. edding recommends an age of 8 and up. Made in Germany.

Does the work really need to go in the oven?
Yes, the ink only bonds permanently and becomes waterproof after curing. Let the painted design dry for 15 minutes, place it in a preheated oven at 160°C for 25 minutes and let it cool down in the oven.
Can I still correct a mistake?
Before the work goes into the oven, you can easily correct decorations and text without it smudging. After curing, that's no longer possible.
What surfaces can I paint on?
The pens are intended for porcelain, glazed ceramics and oven-safe glass, such as a mug. Clean the surface thoroughly beforehand and remove fingerprints and grease marks with a cleaning agent or methylated spirits.
Can I paint an entire plate?
No, edding states that the pens should only be used decoratively. Don't paint parts that are cut on, eaten from or drunk from: stick to the edge of a plate or the outside of a mug.
