The Apple Smart Cover is made from a single piece of polyurethane and covers the front of your iPad mini. The cover is intended for models with a 7.9 inch screen size: the iPad mini 4 and the iPad mini 5.
When you open or close the cover, your iPad's sleep mode automatically switches off or on. So you don't need to use the on/off button to wake or turn off your screen.
You can set up the Smart Cover in various positions. For example, stand your iPad mini upright to read or watch something, or at an angle to type or have a FaceTime call. If you don't want to use the cover, you can simply take it off again.
