The SONY MDR-XB55AP is a wired in-ear headphone from the Extra Bass series. The earphones connect via a 3.5 mm jack connector, which means they work with smartphones, tablets, laptops and MP3 players with a headphone output. The housing comes in black.

Each earphone has a 12 mm driver, combined with SONY's bass booster. This design is focused on bass reproduction, which suits music styles such as dance, hip-hop and electronic music. The frequency range runs from 4 to 24,000 Hz.

The 1.2-metre cable has an in-line remote with microphone. This lets you answer a call or pause music without taking your phone out of your pocket. The cable ends in an L-shaped, gold-plated connector.

The earphones come with hybrid silicone eartips in four sizes, so you can tailor the fit to your ears. With in-ear earphones, a good fit largely determines how much ambient noise you still hear and how the bass comes across.
