The Silicon Power Ace A55 is a 256 GB internal SSD with a SATA III 6 Gb/s interface and the standard 2.5 inch format. The drive works with 3D NAND flash memory combined with SLC cache technology. With a housing 7 mm high, the A55 is intended for ultrabooks and ultra-thin laptops, and the drive is also suitable for use in a desktop.
For this capacity, Silicon Power states a maximum read speed of 460 MB/s and a maximum write speed of 450 MB/s. According to the manufacturer, the actual speed depends on your system, such as hardware, software and the interface mode used.
The A55 supports the TRIM command and Garbage Collection, and is NCQ and RAID ready. ECC technology ensures reliable data transfer and via the S.M.A.R.T. system the drive keeps an eye on itself. Because there are no moving parts, the SSD runs silently, is resistant to shocks and vibrations and uses little power.
Silicon Power offers the SP ToolBox as a free download. With it you read out drive information, such as the self-monitoring report, the level of wear and the SSD diagnosis.
