A pass-through plug splits an existing socket into two connection points, without needing an extension lead or cable. The Orno pass-through plug can handle a maximum of 3680 watts, at 16 A and 230 V. Everything you plug into it together must stay below that 3680 watts.
What is a pass-through plug?
A pass-through plug, also called a splitter plug, is plugged into a socket and then gives you two connection points instead of one. There's no installation and no cable involved: you just plug it in and connect two devices. That's handy in a spot where there's only one socket and you want to use two things, for example a lamp and a laptop charger on a desk. The connection points have an earth pin, so devices with an earthed plug can also use it safely.
How many watts can you connect to it?
The maximum load is 3680 watts, and that figure comes from 16 A times 230 V. That's not per connection point but for the two points combined. So you add up the power of the devices you plug in and keep that total under 3680 watts.
- Look up the power rating of each device; it's stated in watts on the rating plate or in the manual.
- Add up the wattages of the devices that are switched on at the same time.
- Keep that total under 3680 watts, and you're within the limit.
A laptop charger and a phone charger together stay well under that; two appliances with a heating element, such as a kettle and a fan heater, can together go over it. Not sure whether you need more sockets, take a look at our collection of electrics and cabling.
The operating voltage is 230 volts at 50 hertz, the standard Dutch sockets run on, so you don't need to convert anything for that.
What should you watch out for when using it?
The pass-through plug has a built-in child safety lock and a white plastic housing. The IP rating is IP20, which means it's intended for indoor use: kitchen, living room, workspace or office. This model isn't suitable for outdoors or a damp room. If you need a separate euro plug or another solution, you'll find those separately.

No. With an IP rating of IP20, this model is intended for dry indoor spaces. Don't use it outdoors, in a bathroom, or anywhere else where moisture or splashing water can reach it.
Does it have child safety protection?
Yes. The connection points have a built-in child safety lock, so an object can't simply be inserted into them.
Do you need a cable?
No. No cable is included, and none is needed: you plug the pass-through plug directly into the socket.
