About this product longer description
The Maclean MCE35 is an analogue twilight switch that turns connected lighting or other electrical devices on and off based on ambient light. The sensor measures the light level and switches the connected lamps on at dusk and off again at dawn.
The light sensor isn't in the switch housing itself but on an external probe. You can place that probe outside, so ambient light is measured accurately where it matters. The switch itself is designed for flush mounting indoors and is connected without an earth.
The switching point is adjustable within a range of less than 2 to 100 lux, so you decide for yourself at what light level the lighting switches on. The switch works on 220-240 V AC at 50 Hz and handles a load of up to 3450 W at a maximum of 15 A. The operating temperature range runs from -20°C to +40°C at a humidity below 93% RH.

How does the switch know when to turn on?
The sensor continuously measures the ambient light level. At dusk it switches the connected lighting on, at dawn it switches it off again. You set the point at which this happens yourself, between less than 2 and 100 lux.
Can the sensor be placed outside?
The external sensor probe is designed to be placed outside, so ambient light is measured accurately. The switch itself is designed for flush mounting indoors and is splash-proof.
Do I need an app, Wi-Fi or hub?
No. The MCE35 is an analogue device that works independently, without a bridge or base station. No app, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or mobile data connection is needed, and there are no paid services attached to it.
